U.S. contacless payment card shipments takes a dip

The 2011 contactless payment card shipments in the United States have taken a dramatic drop, according to ABI Research.

The number of shipments has fallen considerably when comparing against quarterly shipments achieved in 2010, explains Phil Sealy, research analyst, security and ID. And the drop in shipments has primarily been driven by some overriding factors including:

Colt licenses Cryptocard's cloud-based authentication

Information delivery company Colt has licensed Cryptocard’s BlackShield authentication-as-a-service platform to enhance its virtual desktop infrastructure with secure remote access for up to 5,000 employees.

White Sands Missile Range comes more in line with HSPD-12

The White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in south central New Mexico is doing away with its own badges and coming in line with HSPD-12 and PIV.

Student information at Orlando college posted online

Personal information of 9,000 current and prospective students was inadvertently posted online by Valencia College in Orlando. The school has apologized for the mistake.

The information included the students’ names, addresses, dates of birth and student ID numbers but not their Social Security numbers or financial information.

Collis debuts Visa Mobile Payment Specification Test Suite
