First a ThinkPad, now an ID management system
IBM is at it again. Just as soon as Microsoft announces they’re dabbling in the biometrics, IBM comes out with a laptop with a fingerprint sensor, and now say they are associated with some major biometric companies.
Their new ID management system was created along with ActivCard, Bioscrypt, Imageware and Verisign. The system is supposed to be more complex and cover more applications than most others out there, with the intent that the government will reap the rewards the most.
IBM and Microsoft may be taking the technology to a whole new level -something the industry itself may not have been able to do without some big names backing it up. This is definitely a topic of interest - so much that IBG’s next teleconference includes a track discussing the implications of the corporations’ involvement.
