Key themes running through this recurring feature article will be identity and convergence. That is because these are among the most significant defining features of the modern security landscape. ImageWare enhances identity management biometrics for points-of-access

Multimodal biometric security provider ImageWare Systems Inc. has released version 2.0 of its Biometric Engine (BE) physical security identification product.

This product is designed for airports, seaports and other critical points-of-access for government and private enterprises. This update takes into account the SAFE Port Act, which requires foreign shippers to secure cargo being shipped to the U.S. and ensure the identity of those loading it. Shippers must manage this by 2013.

Access presents secure travel and ID document readers

Access IS is gearing up for Security Document World (SDW) 2012 where it will be showcasing its latest range of security document readers.

There the company will introduce its new passport reader - the OCR601 - which is able to quickly and accurately verify the machine readable zone (MRZ) and enables the data in an e-passport’s chip to be read, all in a single action.

Codebench, Intercede integrate software

Codebench Inc. announced that Intercede, a provider of identity and credential management software, has integrated its MyID system with Codebench’s IDSync software development kit to make MyID compatible with more than 25 different physical access control systems. The addition of the IDSync SDK eliminates the need for Intercede to write its own interfaces for a range of physical access control systems.

Gemalto unveils health care IT solution

Gemalto announced the launch of ProtivaMedSecure, a solution package that addresses one of challenges facing health care providers: a secure digital identity.

Gemalto’s Protiva MedSecure provides a portfolio of authentication software, digital credentials, secure devices, servers and associated services. The Gemalto solution provides a single credential for secure visual identity, as well as physical and logical access to medical facilities and electronic medical records.

Hirsch unveils new controllers, updated software

Hirsch Identive announced the launch of its new DIGI*Net series access controllers and Velocity 3.5 software platforms.

The new Velocity and DIGI*Net platforms are an access control solution that expands native identity management capability to bridge physical and IT infrastructures. This enables organizations to improve security, reduce data redundancy and comply with current and evolving information and physical security standards.

Identive releases access control readers

Identive Group Inc. introduced TouchSecure OpenAccess, a family of access readers that enable a range of organizations to upgrade and integrate their physical and logical access control systems quickly and cost-effectively while retaining existing proprietary physical access systems.
