ActivCard®, a leader in digital identity assurance, recently changed its name to ActivIdentity™ in an effort to reflect the migration from its initial focus on card-based solutions to its current focus on a wide range of identity solutions. “The timing couldn’t be better,” Julian Lovelock, the company’s director for the Financial Services Group, told SecureIDNews. “The market as a whole is understanding the identity management concept now.”

UnboundID releases SCIM-enabled products

By supporting SCIM, UnboundID can provide a standardized and simpler solution for organizations provisioning and managing user identities across multiple cloud-based services, including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings.

Kantara’s trust framework GSA approved

The Kantara Initiative announced its approval by the U.S. Government Services Administration as a Trust Framework Provider program certifying levels of assurance one, two, and three non-crypto – non-PKI, says Joni Brennan, executive director at the Kantara Initiative.

Malware attacks smart cards

A variant of malware called Sykipot is circulating that purportedly enables it to hijack U.S. Defense Department Common Access Cards and Windows smart cards, according to Alien Vault Labs. This variant, which appears to have been put together in March 2011, has been seen in dozens of attack samples from the past year.

Entrust Inc. has made enhancements to its Entrust Discovery digital certificate product by expanding search capabilities for digital certificates residing within Microsoft’s Cryptographic APIs and adding more than 25 basic or custom policy field alerts to ease certificate management.
