Wednesday, May 3, 2006

Electronic payment technology provider MagTek, addressing the need for contactless support, has released its newest hybrid mag stripe/contactless/smart card reader designed for kiosks, vending machines and fuel pumps.

San Francisco, CA–MagTek Inc, a global leader in electronic payment technology, announced at the 2006 annual CardTechSecurTech conference the IntelliStripe 65 hybrid reader, designed for self-service applications such as vending machines, kiosks and fuel pumps.

MagTek has focused on the need for contactless support with the recently upgraded IntelliStripe 65 reader to address requests for a full hybrid reader (magnetic stripe, smart card and contactless). This latest model features proven MagTek technology for the magnetic stripe using the 3-volt Triple Track Delta ASIC, and our million cycle custom-designed contacts for the smart card, while adding support for PayPass, Mifare and other contactless cards.

To validate full compliance with EMV 4.0 Level 1, EMVCo has granted approval to the IntelliStripe 65. The 3-track magnetic stripe reader makes use of MagTek’s triple track Delta ASIC to offer improved magnetic card reading. It also reads standard ISO smart cards plus a variety of popular memory cards and offers available support for the contactless smart cards. In addition to supporting a traditional RS-232 interface, the new design includes the integration of a native USB interface. This reader also contains a single SAM (Security Access Module) socket.

Optional Features Include: A security gate and an improved card retention latch with a power fail release function. It has an industry standard mechanical footprint yet is offered with a variety of mounting options and bezel styles, some include a Red/Green LED. Software Drivers are available for all Windows Operating System platforms.
