SP 800-76 gives agencies some flexibility, but requirements still daunting to many

But today, the technology that measures human physical and behavioral characteristics for authentication has come a long way. And in the United States, millions of federal government employees and contractors will be in touch with the technology soon. That is because federal agencies are required to include fingerprint-based biometric data on the new IDs mandated by HSPD-12.
