LOS ANGELES–The Ministry of Defense Republic of Latvia selected Oberthur Card Systems to deliver an end-to-end smart card-based identity verification system for the NATO Summit, which took place on November 28-29, 2006 in Riga. This system ensured that only authorized personnel were able to enter the NATO summit during the event.

Oberthur Card Systems has a proven track record in government ID programs throughout the world. Thanks to this new contract, the group’s expertise was highly visible for the organizers and attendees of the Summit. The system was a clear demonstration that the ultimate ID security can remain convenient for users.

Under this contract, Oberthur Card Systems provided an end-to-end solution from design to implementation. The authentication solution included software, readers and personalized access cards.
