The company recently earned certification from the General Services Administration (GSA) to deliver security integration services that meet the requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12).

The certification, which comes under the GSA’s Specialty Item Number (SIN) 132-62, qualifies Diebold to provide systems integration services and products that address the HSPD-12 needs of federal agencies. Specifically, the certification permits Diebold to deliver products and services for projects that address the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 201, set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Established as a national policy for federal departments and agencies, HSPD-12 prompts government entities to prioritize U.S. critical infrastructure and key resources to protect them from terrorist attacks. The directive is a driving force in the government security market. FIPS 201 requires the creation and issuance of a common identification and credential for all federal employees and contractors.

Approved system integrators can provide solutions and services for HSPD-12 system components, including: enrollment services, systems infrastructure, card production services, agency physical access control systems, agency logical access control systems, finalization services and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services.

In addition to its recent certification as an HSPD-12 provider, Diebold holds a GSA Schedule 70 for general-purpose commercial information-technology equipment, software and services; a GSA Schedule 71 III E for miscellaneous furniture such as security filing cabinets, safes, access-control containers and vault doors; and a GSA Schedule 84 for total solutions for law enforcement, security, facilities management, rescue and emergency/disaster response.
