Identity Stronghold to Supply GSA as Part of Winning EDS Team

ENGLEWOOD, Fla.–Identity Stronghold announces it will supply the U.S. General Services Administration with Secure Sleeves™ and Secure Badgeholders™ as part of the EDS team which was recently awarded the $66 Million HSPD 12 ID Management Services contract. These services will allow agencies to comply with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), which calls for a mandatory government-wide standard for a secure common form of identification for all federal government employees and contractors.

Identity Stronghold will be providing EDS the “electromagnetically opaque sleeve” required by the federal government standard FIPS 201, thus completing EDS’ end-to-end managed services solution. Identity Stronghold manufactures multiple products that have been placed on the FIPS 201 approved products list in the electromagnetically opaque sleeve category. EDS now carries both the Secure Sleeve and Secure Badgeholder on their GSA IT Schedule 70 to provide an easy purchase channel to all federal agencies.

Under this contract, the EDS team will support GSA in issuing identity credentials to approximately 420,000 employees at 42 federal civilian agencies. EDS will provide a shared service solution for end-to-end managed services for the following core HSPD-12 system components:

  • Enrollment - capturing a federal employee’s identity, fingerprint and digital facial images and storing them in the EDS identity management system.
  • System infrastructure - the identity management and card management systems.
  • Card production and issuance - processing credential requests, producing Personal Identity Verification cards and issuing them to applicants.
  • Card activation - verifying applicants’ identities using biometric scans and then “personalizing” cards with the applicants’ PIN numbers and other information.

GSA officials have also indicated that they would like to provide ID cards to as many as 1.5 million government employees by signing more agencies on to the program in addition to the current commitments from 42 agencies, commissions and boards.

“We are pleased to be part of the EDS winning team and look forward to providing EDS, GSA, and their agency clientele with leading edge FIPS-201 compliant products,” said Walt Augustinowicz, founder and COO of Identity Stronghold.

All Secure products are available directly from Identity Stronghold (http://www.idstronghold.com) and through GSA IT schedule 70.
