Key Ovation-Goldtouch Announces GSA’s FIPS-201 Certification for HSPD-12 Compliance

AUSTIN, Texas, July 18, 2007–Key Ovation, manufacturer of the leading Goldtouch line of ergonomic and security products, has announced that the Goldtouch ErgoSecure2.0 Adjustable Smart Card Keyboard meets all HSPD-12 hardware requirements specified in the FIPS 201 Evaluation Program.

“We are very proud and excited about the acceptance of the ErgoSecure2.0 Adjustable Keyboard for HSPD-12,” says CEO Peter Gilbert.

“Federal agencies and contractors have been waiting for a hardware solution that will not only enable them to comply with the FIPS-201 certification, but also provide significant value-add to their clients and end-users. No other keyboard offers the combination of form and function as the Goldtouch ErgoSecure.”

The Goldtouch ErgoSecure2.0 is one of only two keyboards approved on the FIPS-201 list, meaning those agencies seeking to roll out HSPD-12 will be able to address not only the physical/logical access requirements (via the integrated smart card reader), but also the needs of a physically diverse–and, in some cases, symptomatic–workforce.

According to Christopher Lowe, VP of Sales and Marketing, that translates to significant cost savings for agencies looking to accommodate workers with special needs per Section 504/508, and for President Bush’s SHARE initiative, which challenges federal agencies to reduce Workers Compensation costs and get injured workers back on the job as quickly as possible with reasonable accommodation.

“This is where the rubber meets the road for an agency looking to fulfill their Identity Management requirement for HSPD-12, while also using the ergonomic design to improve the performance and well-being of their employees,” says Lowe. “It has been shown that proper use of a split-design keyboard like the Goldtouch ErgoSecure can reduce discomfort in just six weeks and diminish the chances of a worker aggravating an injury to the point where it becomes a financial burden to the organization.”

Gilbert adds, “When you combine the cost savings of a secure Identity Management platform and access control to Federal properties, with the financial benefits of fewer missed work days and lower injury claims costs by use of the Goldtouch, there is no other solution that can compare.

“Further, when you consider how often a worker forgets their identity card in a stand-alone reader when leaving the office or home, the front-and-center visibility of the keyboard’s built-in reader can virtually eliminate the cost of additional round-trips for card retrieval. That adds up to a huge productivity increase and cost savings.”

The ErgoSecure 2.0 is available through Key Ovation and select partners, including Business World Management, an SBA(8a) Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business, GSA# GS-35F-0618K (SKU:GTS-0077) and Dell, GSA# GS-35F-4076D (SKU: A0473026)
