Multiple Federal, State and Local PIVMAN Customers Participate in Department of Homeland Security “Summer Breeze” Demonstration
CAMBRIDGE, MA, Marketwire - August 8, 2007–CoreStreet, a leader in software for credential and convergence programs, announced that its PIVMAN™ System was used as an integral part of the July 19 Summer Breeze First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC) usage demonstration co-hosted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Office of National Capital Region Coordination (NCRC) and Department of Defense (DoD) Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA). The demonstration’s goal was to validate the functionality of the FRAC and the integration of electronic attributes, specifically Emergency Support Function (ESF) attributes as defined in the National Response Plan (NRP). CoreStreet’s PIVMAN System successfully verified the electronic identities and ESF attributes of first responders in multiple jurisdictions across the country.
The Summer Breeze demonstration highlighted federal, state, local and private sector identity interoperability. It also illustrated the Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS-201)-compliant credentials’ applications beyond physical and logical access to include identification at any type of event or location.
The PIVMAN System consists of software for handheld devices and backend servers that manage credential status and privilege attribution across large populations of credential holders. It has featured prominently in such events supporting all FIPS-201-compliant credentials including the FRAC, Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), Mariner Administrative Card (MAC) and the DoD Common Access Card (CAC) which includes the National Guard population.
Since its launch in September 2006, CoreStreet’s PIVMAN System has been deployed by numerous federal, state and local governments for CAC and FIPS-201-compliant credential validation. CoreStreet worked with numerous Summer Breeze participating jurisdictions to include PFPA, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado, Florida and other National Capital Region (NCR) entities.
