Identity assurance solutions provider Daon’s software will be powering a national automated border management system for an unnamed country. Fingerprints and facial images will be requested from persons entering the country who are 16 or older. The company’s identity management system will provide the centralized and client biometric infrastructure for the border clearance and e-gate system.

RESTON, Va.–Daon, a global provider of identity assurance software and services, announced that its software will power a national automated border management system for an undisclosed country, which when fully deployed will be one of the most advanced and largest biometric systems in the world.

This significant contract extends the rapidly growing list of nations who have selected Daon software as a core component of their identity assurance programs. Already in use in numerous programs in the US, Europe, the UK, Asia and Middle East, Daon has proven its ability to provide a robust, scalable, future-proof platform for establishing identity, which is critical in preventing the use of falsified documents by terrorists or others seeking to enter a country illegally.

The goals of this automated border management system include the prevention of terrorism, illegal immigration and other crimes at the border. Fingerprints and facial images will be requested from persons entering the country who are 16 years of age and older. Daon’s identity management system will provide the centralized and client biometric infrastructure for the border clearance and e-gate system, with DaonEngine™ serving as the platform and additional Daon software being used at all immigration workstations and ports of entry.

A self-service kiosk will be used to authenticate the traveller against biometric credentials on their e-Passport and foreign travellers will also be screened against a fingerprint and facial watch list database. The system is expected to be fully deployed in production across the entire country by the end of 2007.

Commenting on the contract win, Tom Grissen, Daon’s CEO said, “We are pleased to add one of the world’s largest economies to a growing list of countries who rely on Daon technology for securing their borders and protecting their citizens. Our solutions, combined with our thought leadership and significant expertise in biometrics, position us as the partner of choice for system integrators and customers around the globe. We take this commitment very seriously and will continue to work diligently to maintain that trust.”
