Smart card-based vehicle documents in six months in Bangalore, India

Paper-form vehicle registration certificates (RCs) and drivers licenses in Bangalore, India will soon become a thing of the past when the Transport Department introduce smart card-based registrations and licenses within the next six months. The Transport Department is looking for private companies to supply, install and maintain project facilities, besides supplying and printing smart cards for DLs and RCs. The partner will also train department staff and take up data entry operation of existing records in the department. The private partner is expected to recover costs by collecting user fee against smart card-based DLs and RCs.
