IBM’s Smart Surveillance System (S3) to be used at 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will be using IBM’s Smart Surveillance System (S3) to index digital video recordings and issue real-time alerts when certain patterns are detected. It can also be used to warn security guards when someone has entered a secure area or keep track of cars coming in and out of a parking lot. Similar systems are being tested and used in New York City and Chicago.
