Compatible smart cards make taxi fare payment easier in China

Taxi passengers in 16 major cities in China will be able to use compatible smart cards for paying their fare electronically by 2010. To date, more than 3,300 cabs have been equipped with standardized electronic card readers, allowing Shanghai and Nanjing residents to use their local electronic cards for cab payment. Approximately 7,500 more cabs are installing these readers.
