Nissan rolls out smart cards to boost security

Nissan Europe is rolling out a smart card system to give employees in 34 countries access to IT systems and buildings. Employees in 29 countries, including the UK, have been issued with Nissan ID cards. The Nissan ID card allows employees to access and exchange confidential information across the network as well as access systems shared with alliance partner Renault. The Nissan combined ID builds on a smart card building access system introduced by Nissan Japan in 2001. Nissan has used cards and readers bundled with management, authentication, remote access and security software from ActivIdentity.
