Sun Microsystems, Java Card Forum release next generation of Java Card

Sun Microsystems and the Java Card Forum announced the availability of version 3.0 of Java Card platform specification. The new Java Card 3.0 platform specification is available in two separate editions: Java Card Platform v.3.0, Classic Edition and Java Card Platform v.3.0, Connected Edition.

Both editions are compatible with applications written for previous versions. Java Card technology adoption is expanding rapidly with an estimated 1.2 billion units deployed in sectors as diverse as telecommunications, corporate ID and financial services, in 2007 alone. [end]

Google acquires NFC patents from IBM

Google has acquired 188 patents and 29 patents pending from IBM, some of which concern NFC technology, reports ZDNet.

Adding to the 2,053 IBM patents already turned over to Google in the past year, these new patents cover databases, mobile phones, server infrastructure, wireless telephone systems, NFC and other patents that may relate to Google’s Android mobile operating system.

Neurotechnology releases two new MegaMatcher solutions

Neurotechnology has announced the release of two new software development kits (SDKs) from their MegaMatcher line of offerings.
