Pennsylvanians could be buying their wine in supermarkets via biometrics
Currently, in Pennsylvania, citizens may only buy wine from one of the 600 wine and spirit stores in the state, but that may change according to a Philadelphia Inquirer article. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has been looking at placing biometric controlled wine kiosks-like vending machines-in about 100 supermarkets across the state.
The wine kiosks’ biometric sensor would be able to determine not only age but level of intoxication through scanning both the arm and hand. The Liquor Control Board would be in charge of the use and tracking of the machines and customers would have to register with the control board by providing fingerprints, a credit card and an infrared arm scan.
