Republic of Mali chooses Sagem Sécurité for ID system

The Republic of Mali in Western Africa has selected Sagem Sécurité to deploy a biometric based identity system for secure management of public records. Some 1000 portable data collection stations linked to an Automatic Fingerprint Identification System that will record biometric data for more than 10 million citizens. [end] 

The Czech Republic has extended the contract of Trüb for secure polycarbonate data pages with embedded chip for electronic passports.

The cooperation with the Czech Republic began in 2006 with the supply of polycarbonate data pages with embedded chips implementing the basic access control standard. In April 2009, the Czech Republic started issuing a new passport with biometric data, based on extended access control. The chip on this second-generation passport stores the personal data, a facial image and two fingerprints of the document holder.

Ingenico has announced it is joining Globus hypermarkets in the first mobile payments pilot in the Czech Republic.

Launched at the end of July, the six month trial involves 400 clients of Telefonica, Citibank and Commercial Bank using Samsung Star 5230 NFC-enabled handsets to make contactless payments at Globus super stores in and around Prague.
