Dell recently unveiled a new series of Latitude laptop computers that come installed with advanced security technology for access control, according to a TMCnet article. The new series, called the E6500, was designed as a replacement for desktops and aimed at high-performance users.

The new security features on the Latitude have both smart cards and fingerprint readers as further layers of access control beyond standard operating system password protection and comply with Federal Information Processing Standards. Dell also offers other optional security software and services such as ProSupport Mobility Services, a software suite that helps secure data, and a service that can set a user’s laptop to automatically encrypt data.
