Gemalto smart card reader fits in wallet

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Gemalto has introduced the Ezio Thin Reader, a new small authentication device for online authentication. The credit card-sized reader fits in a wallet, so that users can carry it with them wherever they go.

The new device enables customers to carry an authentication device and their banking card together at any time. In addition, Ezio Thin Reader features a regular keypad. The device is compliant with the latest industry standards - MasterCard CAP and Visa DPA - and accepts any type of EMV smart cards. Gemalto will demonstrate Ezio Thin Reader at CARTES & IDentification next week in Paris.

The Gemalto solution enables customers to generate One-Time-Passwords by inserting their banking card into the device and entering their PIN code. They use the password to identify themselves at log in and to sign transactions with the adequate level of security.

The new Gemalto product is part of a family of authentication and digital signature solutions that includes notably readers, tokens, software and services.
