Privaris supporting HID prox technology

Privaris, a provider of multi-function wireless biometric solutions, announced the availability of devices with preloaded HID Global credentials on its plusID product line.

Customers can now purchase plusID identity verification tokens with HID 26-bit and 37-bit prox credentials, ready for use with their existing physical access control systems. With pre-coded plusID’s, the only step required for deployment is enrollment of the user’s fingerprint on the device.


Pre-loaded HID Prox credentials in 26-bit and 37-bit formats are available on the entire range of plusID biometric tokens, from the plusID 60 to the plusID 75, which includes Bluetooth for wireless logon to PCs, and the plusID 90, which includes long-range wireless capability for use with vehicle gates and garage doors. plusID products work with all access control systems that support HID cards and readers. [end] 

A Japanese researcher has developed a biometric that could be used to protect a car from theft: butt biometrics, according to verge.com.

Shigeomi Koshimizu, an associate professor at the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology in Tokyo has developed the technology. A seat pressure map to generates 39 indices that are used to uniquely identify a subject’s posterior. Results so far have been encouraging, with average false reject rates of 2.2% and false accept rates of 1.1%.

HID Global has launched a software interface that enables customers to have converged physical and logical access control on one card with with IBM Tivoli TAM enterprise single sign on (eSSO). Called OMNIKEY Device Service Provider (DSP), this software works and uses a person’s existing contactless physical access credential for sign on to IT networks and applications.
