Databac has announced that it will display its new environmentally friendly ID solutions at IFSEC 2011 in Birmingham, UK.

Databac, a provider of contactless, biometric and rewritable card technologies, says it will hand out samples its new rewritable smart cards, which are biodegradable and made of recycled plastic. The company will demonstrate the cards with Fargo’s latest DTC1000 card printer, which can print, erase and reprint cards up to 400 times. According to Databac, this system can offer significant savings in plastic card usage.

Identive Group has shipped an additional 122,000 smart card readers to support Spain’s national electronic ID card program which the government launched in 2009. More than half of Spain’s 46 million citizens now carry the ID cards.
