Prime Factors, Thales renew partnership

Card personalization provider Prime Factors, Eugene, Ore. has renewed its partnership with Thales that includes product information exchange, joint marketing and a reseller agreement enabling Prime Factors to sell Thales Host Security Modules (HSMs). The agreement also includes joint marketing activities that target secure personalization bureaus and companies that create secure credit, debit, prepaid and gift cards.


Prime Factors develops the Bank Card Security System (BCSS), which is designed to work with the Thales HSM 8000 to meet security requirements established by Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

The agreement with Thales gives Prime Factors the right to sell the Thales HSM 8000 hardware encryption device in North America. Prime Factors recently released BCSS version 3.0, which supports Thales’ new firmware functionality that provides data preparation for contactless cards and EMV-based cards. The two products now work together in the process to create contactless cards and EMV-based cards. [end] 

AOptix Technologies announced that SITA, a specialist in air transport communications and information technology, has joined the AOptix Value Added Reseller program.

Under the partnership, SITA, who has customers in more than 200 countries which includes 300 airport locations, would be able to offer its customers AOptix solutions. These offerings include the InSight iris and face recognition product as an automated solution for airports to quickly and securely identify passengers at security checkpoints with documents such as biometric-enabled passports.

Proxama has announced a partnership with semiconductor supplier ARM Holdings to create secure payment mechanisms for mobile handsets.

The UK-based partners say they will combine ARM’s TrustZone technology with Proxama’s Mobile Wallet to develop a “highly secure” environment for NFC-enabled mobile contactless payments and mobile internet payments.

DigitalPersona announced the release of a new version of its Pro Enterprise software solution, version 5.2.

Among the aspects of the new version DigitalPersona is touting are the extensive number of factors a company utilizing the solution can use to authenticate for access to sensitive information or secured computer stations. These factors include what a user knows, such as PINs or passwords, things you have, such as smart cards, contactless identity cards or Bluetooth devices, and things you are, such as fingerprints.

StarChip and CEA-Leti have inked a partnership agreement to develop a contactless front end for smart card applications.

The partnership includes technology and know-how transfer to StarChip. With this combined experience in secure integrated circuit development and contactless technology, StarChip will roll out state-of-the-art smart card products to enable applications in transport, banking and identity.
