Precise Biometrics wins award for match-on-SIM technology

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Precise Biometrics came in first place in the global SIMagine competition, held annually at the GSMA World Mobile Congress.

The biometric vendor won for a mobile aviation solution based on Precise Match-on-SIM and enables fast lane service using fingerprint recognition and mobile phones. Precise Biometrics presented a solution for smart travel, BioXpress - The Queue-less Travel Experience.

BioXpress uses Precise Match-on-Card for identity authentication at airports through the SIM card and Near Field Communication. The system enables remote ticket purchase, automatic baggage drop, self-service boarding and baggage reconciliation. All these services are secured by automated match-on-card biometric verification to enable an automated passenger flow.

SIMagine is a global competition focusing on new solutions for mobile communication and Java cards. Gemalto, Sun Microsystems and Samsung arrange the competition. Last year, Precise Biometrics came in second place with their solution Precise Match-on-SIM, which enables secure and easy authentication to any high value transaction using a mobile phone. [end]

Precise Biometrics has entered a partnership agreement with smart-card technology developer Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to bring Precise’s Match-on-Card technology to G&D’s smart cards.

The partnership will enable G&D’s clients to provide smart cards with encrypted data on the user’s fingerprint so that when a card is swiped and a fingerprint is scanned for identification purposes, the match occurs between the data stored on the card and the fingerprint swiped rather than routing data to and from a database.
