PockeTracker can allow an immediate on-the-spot check of any cardholder and can authenticate the individual’s information to match the rightful cardholder. It has a simple red or green display for granting or denying entry.

The device was chosen by the academy because of its ability to read a secure credential while providing fast and accurate integration with the existing access control system and, of course, due to its mobility. Security staff members were trained within minutes on the use of the PockeTracker.

Ric Robertson, academy executive administrator, said the organization intends to use the technology in secure areas in the future.

“Although we have deployed our PockeTrackers for less secure venues like college football games and construction site worker access, we are gratified that our product worked so well for a highly secure venue like the Oscars,” said Vision’s president, Emil Bonaduce.

In addition to access control, PockeTracker can also track simple attendance or be used for paperless ticketing. It contains a mustering feature which allows the user to identify who is or isn’t in a building, a bus, or any other location.
