New biometric standards released

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in News

Biometric Services International announced the availability of its latest update of published and emerging biometric standards. Seven new and/or updated standards were published since the last update in August 2008, bringing the total number of published standards to 80.

The report details these, along with another 80+ emerging standards under consideration.

The exchange of fingerprint, palm print and iris data among federal, state and local authorities is enhanced by a CJIS2 Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification; a new ICAO3 document defines technical specifications for travel documents, including crew member certificates; and a new ISO document that establishes the design format and data content of ISO-compliant drivers’ licenses are among the many new standards covered in this report.
