The Smart Card Alliance will present a panel discussion on why enterprises planning converged physical and IT access control can benefit by following the federal government’s model at ISC West, April 1 though April 3 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Alliance members will also demonstrate various technologies in the exhibit hall.
The Smart Card Alliance panel, “IP09: Implementing Converged IT/Physical Security in the Enterprise Using the Federal PIV Model” will be held Wednesday, April 1st from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Members of the Smart Card Alliance will discuss what the FIPS 201 standards are, why they are a good model for enterprises, as well as introduce resources that will help managers define a strategy and implement converged credentials.
Panelists include: Roger Roehr, Tyco International; Lars Suneborn, Hirsch Electronics; Patrick Hearn, Oberthur Technologies; Sal D’Agostino, IDmachines; and Bob Gilson, U.S. Department of Defense/Defense Manpower Data Center.
Additionally, attendees can visit the Smart Card Alliance information booth 22145a to learn about using smart cards for physical access to facilities and to see demonstrations of products and service from Alliance members:
- CardLogix, demonstrating the Credentsys PIV card for secure identity and access and development tools for secure smart card applications.
- Hirsch Electronics, demonstrating smart card use in physical access control systems.
- XTec, Incorporated, demonstrating smart card authentication in an access control environment using cryptographic challenge-response.
Nineteen Smart Card Alliance members are exhibiting at ISC West, demonstrating a range of products to implement smart card-based physical and logical access systems.
