PIV I spec released

Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in News

The Personal Identificatin Verification Interoperability specification has been released. The standard is designed to provide support for organizations outside of the federal executive branch that want to deploy a PIV credential.

The spec can be used by states, first responders and others to be interoperable with the federal PIV standard.

Many states have been waiting for the release of the spec before moving forward with first responded credentials. There were concerns that the spec would change and states would have to reissue IDs.

Details of the spec are available at http://www.cio.gov/[end]
