SAIC acquires Atlan

The Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a science, engineering and technology development company, has announced that they have acquired Atlan Inc., a cybersecurity product testing firm.

Atlan is known for testing for FIPS 201 compliance as well as secure content application protocol. The acquisition of Atlan is a big one for SAIC as these certifications are a prerequisite for government and regulated industries such as financial and health care. Atlan’s employees will join SAIC’s Accredited Testing and Evaluation (AT&E) Laboratories under the company’s Intelligence and Information Solutions Business Unit led by Cox. [end] 

StarChip and CEA-Leti have inked a partnership agreement to develop a contactless front end for smart card applications.

The partnership includes technology and know-how transfer to StarChip. With this combined experience in secure integrated circuit development and contactless technology, StarChip will roll out state-of-the-art smart card products to enable applications in transport, banking and identity.

These cards are being developed with industries such as banking, medical insurance and government or other high-security identification industries in mind.
