Monday, August 31, 2009

Scott Marquardt, formerly with SVTC Technologies, a California technology foundry, will assume the presidency of Giesecke & Devrient’s U.S. subsidiary in Dulles, Va. beginning Sept. 1. His role will be to help G&D grow its business in both banknote processing and mobile security solutions.

Marquardt’s career spans industries from paper and printing to cell phones, computers and semiconductors. Prior to his stint at SVTC, where he was the vice president of sales, marketing and strategic business development, he also spent time with NXP Semiconductors, Royal Philips Electronics and Apple Computer.

Besides Dulles, G&D, headquartered in Munich, Germany, also has U.S. facilities in Twinsburg, Ohio and San Mateo, Calif. [end]

Precise Biometrics has entered a partnership agreement with smart-card technology developer Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) to bring Precise’s Match-on-Card technology to G&D’s smart cards.

The partnership will enable G&D’s clients to provide smart cards with encrypted data on the user’s fingerprint so that when a card is swiped and a fingerprint is scanned for identification purposes, the match occurs between the data stored on the card and the fingerprint swiped rather than routing data to and from a database.
