L-1 awarded $18m contract

L-1 Identity Solutions, a developer of biometric technology, has been awarded a contract valued at $18 million and spanning seven years from the State of New Jersey.

The contract stipulates the development of a system for biometrically secure driver’s licenses as well as six years of producing the ID cards. As L-1 had landed a near $195 million contract with the U.S. Department of State late in 2009 for production systems of biometric passports, this new contract furthers L-1’s experience in rolling out ID programs. [end] 

Stanley Inc. has been awarded two contracts from the U.S. Army totally $7.9 million, according to a Washington Business Journal article.

The contracts stipulate Stanley support programs out of the Army Intelligence Center Language Technology Office in Arizona intended to develop biometric and forensic systems and to work on the Detainee Information Management System, a systems that tracks detainees while in custody, and the Multilingual Automate Registration System, a system designed to enroll detainee’s biometric information via multilingual interfaces.

MorphoTrak received an award notification from the North Carolina Department of Transportation for an enhanced security driver license system in the amount for $47.5 million.

Digital Identification Solutions announced it has received purchase orders from three separate driver license programs.

The first of the orders is from L-1 Identity Solutions for the State of Kentucky, and another is from 3M for the State of Arkansas. Furthermore, the State of South Carolina, a customer for several years, has also decided to extend its current install base.

L-1 Identity Solutions has announced it has been awarded a contract for research and development by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate, Human Factors Division. The contract stipulates for L-1 to develop a next generation technology for use in a four-finger slap image capture mobile biometric device.
