Kaba Access Control recently unveiled its new E-Plex 5800 series, which features a stand-alone access control system approved by GSA to meet FIPS 201 requirements.

The CoreStreet Enabled E-Plex 5800 series incorporates a variety of options and features to accommodate to the customer’s preferences and applications.

Users have two methods of handling the system: without software by enrolling FIPS 201 cards right at the reader, or using software to check card validation against the Federal Bridge, import photos, set access schedules, retrieve audit trail and other features.

The E-Plex 5800 series is on the FIPS 201 Approved Product List and is now available for shipment.

SIEMENS, University of Graz create RFID blood monitoring system

Siemens along with the University of Graz, Austria have created an RFID-enabled blood monitoring system, according to AZoSensors.

The system consists of a temperature sensor, a chip and a battery. RFID labels contain information about the blood and help regulate the complete cooling series by using temperature sensors. The sensor remains in the same position throughout the entire transportation system, including the centrifuge, and is strong enough to endure centrifugal processes at 5000 times the acceleration of gravity.

Kaba enables flexibility for physical access control

Mark Allen, marketing manager at Kaba, talks about the company’s E-Plex 5800 series and its compatibility with FIPS 201-compatible credentials. He says the locks enable organizations to choose if they want a simple or sophisticated system based on its particular security requirements and make it easy to deploy.

iDTRONIC key fob equips Alien technology

iDTRONIC, a provider for RFID readers and transponders, has extended its key fob Drop series to include Alien HIGGS 3 ultra-high frequency EPC Gen2 technology.

HID Global launches new e-ID reader platform

HID Global announced the launch of its identiCLASS e-ID embedded reader platform for e-ID solutions.

The globally certified e-government solution includes the new 3300 Reader Core for hand-held terminals and other space critical applications and the 3500 Reader Board for kiosk terminals where multiple antennas are required.
