Cryptography Research demos DPA Workstation

Paul Kocher, president and chief scientist at Cryptography Research Inc., demonstrates the company’s Differential Power Analysis Workstation at the RSA Conference in San Francisco.

Kocher talks about why it’s important to have strong security at every possible level in devices and how easy it can be to retrieve secret keys with basic, inexpensive equipment.

“We’re focused on security at the very lowest level, what’s going on in the silicon and chip,” Kocher says. “We look at how you can keep you secrets and keys secure at those levels. Your security is only as strong as those lowest level building blocks.”

The December meeting of the influential Government Smart Card Interagency Advisory Board (IAB) was recently held in Washington D.C.
