Gemalto announced the inauguration of a new production line for core electronic passport technology in its Tczew-based facility in Poland. This new line enables the company to expand the activities of this site the public sector.
Poland is a key country for Gemalto with new markets developing in the public sector. This new production line aims at serving the domestic market and will also address customers around the world, such as national printing houses in various countries.
This move follows Gemalto’s investments in Poland since 1996. The opening of the Tczew factory in 2000 brought technology to Poland and created 450 jobs the facility. Electronic passports and electronic identity cards are some of the most promising market segments in the digital security industry.
This new investment builds on the existing production scope in Tczew and offers a solution that covers the entire e-passport value chain. Gemalto also provides enrollment, personalization and border control solutions, as well as consultancy services to locally support its government customers in deploying or upgrading their e-passport projects.
