Entrust has announced the delivery of multipurpose global ID cards to INTERPOL officers to expedite uninterrupted travel on missions in the pursuit of transnational criminals.

The solution consists of the INTERPOL Global Smart eID & eVisa, which provides secure access to INTERPOL facilities and networks.

Officers only need this single multipurpose smart card for secure access to restricted buildings, computers, e-mail and secure document-signing, as well as unimpeded border crossings.

INTERPOL says Endtrusts solution will enable them and other law enforcement agencies to “work more freely, effectively and efficiently in protecting personnel, facilities and digital assets in the pursuit of transnational criminals.”

Countries quickly recognizing INTERPOL smart card

Eighteen months after its introduction, 31 countries have recognized the INTERPOL Global Smart eID & eVisa multipurpose, smart card credential.

The INTERPOL Global Smart eID & eVisa is a travel document secured by PKI technology that provides enterprise smart card capabilities for logical and physical access to INTERPOL facilities and networks. As a travel document, the card supports both Basic Access Control and Extended Access Control e-passport standards. It also is the basis for special visa status from granting member countries, allowing for secure enterprise access and speedier border crossings.

Entrust Discovery enhances digital certificate management

Entrust Inc. has made enhancements to its Entrust Discovery digital certificate product by expanding search capabilities for digital certificates residing within Microsoft’s Cryptographic APIs and adding more than 25 basic or custom policy field alerts to ease certificate management.

The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) announced that the registration of Emirati newborns is now mandatory for electronic passports (e-passport) and ID cards, according to ArabianBusiness.com.

Human Recognition Systems enhances latent processing tool

Human Recognition Systems (HRS) has added features and enhancements to its MForce latent fingerprint processing product.

In an effort to reduce operation times and costs, HRS has developed MForce as a mobile biometric product that enables law enforcement officers and military to obtain and process latent and livescan fingerprints in the field. Smart cards replace paper coupons in Indian prison

Prisoners at Tihar prisons, located near New Delhi, India, will now be using smart cards instead of paper coupons for their food purchases.

As reported by The Economic Times, the former system of paper food coupons led to misuse and illegal activity within the jail. Some prisoners would use it for currency in order to get banned substances or buy favors from others.

German firm issues more than 1 million grid cards

SCHUFA, a German credit reporting agency, has issued more than 1 million grid cards from Entrust for multi-factor authentication to its consumer portal. SCHUFA and its customers rely on the Entrust IdentityGuard authentication platform and Entrust’s grid cards.
