Making secure cards primary focus for CPI Card Group

Keeping cards secured, both against fraud as well as securing the supply chain, is a constant fight, said Benoit Guez, director of smart cards and new technologies for CPI Card Group. “It’s always a fight with the bad guys. You try to be one step ahead of them, so you have a lot of new features that are coming in to make the card construction more difficult.”

Which leads to CPI’s core competency. “What we’ve been trying to do is stay focused on our abilities, and our real skills which is card manufacturing” added Guez. [end] 

HSBC announced that it will begin the conversion to contactless technology this month, replacing all customer banking debit cards, according to ThinkMoney.com.

The bank will start to roll out the new contactless cards to existing customers whose debit cards are due to expire this month and then continue the process as cards expire. Customers who don’t want a contactless card can opt out by contacting their bank before their current card expires.
