Government ID, Smart Cards, Identification and Authentication

idOnDemand, Symantec partner for cloud authentication

Monday, November 14, 2011

idOnDemand announced that its idOnDemand SmartID card can be used to authenticate mobile devices for clientless secure logon to the Symantec Validation and ID Protection (VIP) Service.

idOnDemand’s enterprise customers now can carry just one identity card to access multiple buildings, logon to their computers, remotely access the company VPN and securely access data from their mobile devices. By embedding a near field communications chip into each idOnDemand SmartID card, securely accessing corporate resources through Symantec VIP is now easier and safer.

Employees simply touch their idOnDemand SmartID to their mobile device and authenticate directly to the VIP application, or enter the One-Time Password (OTP) into their existing VPN client from their computer.

Symantec VIP delivers cloud-based strong authentication for online access and transactions. A fully hosted Software as a Service solution, Symantec VIP offers enterprises a way to give legitimate users access to business resources, enterprise applications and online Web sites while also protecting resources. The service integrates with existing RADIUS-enabled VPN devices or other corporate applications and supports a range of OATH-compliant OTP methods, now including idOnDemand SmartID cards. [end]
