Advanced Card Systems (ACS), a developer of smart card solutions, has introduced a new smart card reader that also has an embedded fingerprint sensor.
The smart card reader, called AET65, uses a one-to-one algorithm for matching fingerprints with the one securely stored on the smart card.
ACS offers a similar product called the AET63 which also offers smart card reading and fingerprint authentication capabilities, but the AET63 utilizes a area sensor for fingerprints whereas the AET65 utilizes a swipe-style fingerprint sensor.
The new smart card solution utilizes ACS’ own smart card system with a fingerprint sensor from biometrics developer UPEK.
