Animetrics has released ForensicaGPS, a new facial biometric tool for local, state and federal law enforcement. With the tool, law enforcement can identify criminal suspects even from low-resolution photos or video.
The tool uses Animetrics’ patented facial recognition technology to turn low-resolution 2D facial images from a digital photo or video frame into a 3D image. Then it incorporates image quality enhancement to turn these images into “ID ready” images for easier identification and comparison to many criminal databases and other third-party facial recognition systems. The system can analyze and compare up to five images of a subject.
Animetrics is partnering with DataworksPlus and BI2 Technologies for product delivery in the U.S. International distribution will be handled by UNIDAS Germany and UMC Forensics GmBh Switzerland.
Current clients include the Zurich Forensic Police Department in Switzerland, as well as several police departments in the Middle East, including Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
