Gaming Partners International Corporation (GPI) will supply RFID-enabled casino chips and accompanying technology to two large casinos scheduled to open later this year. According to GPI, casinos in Macao and the Philippines will use the company’s RFID Casino Currency Control solutions for roughly 80% of their gaming chips, for a combined order of around $8 million.
Macao’s City of Dreams casino, a Melco PBL Entertainment property, will use GPI’s HF RFID Bourgogne & Grasset plaques at its 550 gaming tables when it opens in the second quarter of 2009. Melco PBL has used various Casino Currency Control solutions at other properties since 2007.
In Manila, a subsidiary of Genting Bhd will partner with Alliance Global Group to open a casino in the Newport City complex in mid-2009. The 450 tables in the casino will use LF RFID Bourgogne & Grasset gaming chips, jetons, plaques and readers from GPI’s solution series.
GPI’s RFID Casino Currency Control solutions, offered under several brand names, enable casinos to verify the authenticity and value of each chip, plaque and jeton almost instantly, reducing the possibility of counterfeits, staff pilferage or errors in casino currency counts. Casinos can track individual chips, plaques or jetons throughout the gaming floor and follow payments, win and losses, and other transactions at each table. GPI’s HF RFID chips are are also compatible with player tracking hardware and software, enabling the tracking of play data so casinos can follow player bets and accurately rate and reward players.
