Campus cards could serve as voter IDs in Wisconsin

Republicans have proposed changes to a voter ID bill that would enable college identification cards to be used at the polls. However, Democrats call the changes “meaningless” because the revised bill calls for the campus card to meet too many requirements that could still keep students away from the polls.
The bill originally barred use of a student ID at the polls. But GOP-proposed changes would now allow a voter to use an identification card from an accredited public or private university or college if it included a photo, date of birth, current address, an expiration date no more than four years away, and a signature, in other words the same standards as a driver’s license.
The problem, say Democrats, is that few student IDs now meet those standards.
