Ceelox has announced that it has finished development of a prototype application that would use Ceelox’s fingerprint biometrics to enable biometric authentication in online environments such as corporate intranets, cloud computing networks and commercial applications like online banking and other personal account-based access.
The solution is designed as a two-factor authentication that uses fingerprint biometric in association with other credentials.
Ceelox officials are touting the new solution as a means to completely stopping cyber attacks such as those that break into personal online banking accounts to steal data or siphon funds away. Additionally, they feel that their development of the technology aimed at combating cyber crime couldn’t be better timed with outlooks on the global biometric market expecting continued growth and acceptance and the high numbers of cyber crime being reported for 2009.
