The Johnson County Library, Kan. will soon move forward on the installation of RFID equipment and adding tags to all of the books and audiovisual materials at the Corinth Library.
After evaluating a similar system at the district’s Antioch branch, the library is implementing RFID to improve the movement of materials, aiding staff to better manage inventory and reduce the number of lost or missing items.
The project will also support new self-service check-out equipment which allows patrons to borrow media without staff intervention. As a result staff can focus their attention more on returning items to shelves and helping visiting patrons on the floor, thus increasing customer satisfaction.
RFID technology at Corinth Library also means fewer mistakes with the checking in/out of materials, as well as significantly reducing theft.
