The John Natsoulas Center for the Arts in Davis, Calif. is using NFC technology to provide resident with a unique art viewing experience.
The JNCA has teamed up with XtremeSignPost founder Monto H. Kumagai to embed sculptures from renowned artist Finely Fryer with NFC tags. On Feb. 17, ten of these sculptures will be unveiled throughout downtown Davis, enabling residents with NFC-enabled phones to receive audio information about each work of art with a simple tap.
Visitors to this “Transmedia Sculpture Walkabout” will be issued a user-friendly digital video map that will allow them to conduct their own personalized virtual tour and to educate themselves about the process and history of multiple artistic creations.
According to JNCA, Fryer is planning to erect a new 25 ft. interactive sculpture along the 1-80 East between San Francisco and Sacramento to kick off the event.
