Etisalat launches mobile payments in Afghanistan

Etisalat Afghanistan, the country’s fastest growing cellular operator, has announced the launch of its “mHawala” mobile financial services.
Etisalat Afghanistan customers can use mHawala to make contactless mobile transactions at the point of sale, as well as purchase air time, pay bills and transfer funds to family and friends directly from their mobile phone.
Users can also deposit or withdraw cash from Etisalat authorized mHawala distributors or Etisalat partner banks.
mHawala Mobile Accounts can be obtained at any Etisalat store or authorized distributor. The service is available to all existing and new Etisalat Afghanistan customers, according to Etisalat.
To provide the service Etisalat Afghanistan partnered with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which will support bill payment solutions to customers using mHawala.
