Fulcrum Biometrics has announced the release of a new fingerprint recognition accessory and accompanying application designed for use with the iPod Touch that utilizes TouchChip silicon fingerprint sensors from fellow biometrics developer AuthenTec.
The new solution, called FbF mobileOne, snaps onto iPod Touches from the 2nd, 3rd or 4th generations and enables a user to utilize fingerprint biometrics Fulcrum asserts is robust enough for use in government, medical and law enforcement applications.
Specifically, Fulcrum is pushing their new solution as a perfect fit for applications wherein biometric voter registration in rural areas is part of a project as the mobile nature and long battery life of the iPod enables easy use far away from accessible electricity.
Additional applications that are being pushed as a fit for the FbF mobileOne include time and attendance tracking for construction or farm workers and on-site law enforcement warrant searches.
