HID taps industry veteran Michael Davis for director of technology, intellectual property

HID Corp., a California contactless access control card and reader manufacturer, has hired former Honeywell International executive Michael L. Davis to a newly-created position within the company: Director of technology, intellectual property. Mr. Davis has some 25 years’ experience with security technologies, including physical security and card manufacturing.

Davis for the newly-created position of Director of Technology, Intellectual Property. In his new role, Davis will leverage his extensive experience in the access control market with his broad range of knowledge in leading technology developments to drive HID’s future product initiatives.

Davis’ experience includes over 25 years with security technologies including physical electronic security, card technologies, and card manufacturing. Prior to joining HID, Davis held various director-level, engineering and product marketing positions at Honeywell International companies including Honeywell Access Systems, NexWatch, Northern Computers, and ADEMCO. His primary role at these companies consisted of designing and developing 13.56 MHz and 125 kHz card and reader product lines, and creating and implementing product and marketing strategies. Prior to Honeywell, he was founder and President of Matrix Electronics from 1979 to 1985, later selling the company to Daco Industries.
Davis received his master’s degree in computer science from Florida Institute of Technology and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in science and medicine from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Holding numerous patents, he also frequently writes industry-related articles and regularly presents at major industry trade shows.
