Inside Contactless announced two new products at the Cards Asia 2004 conference. The first is a compact flash reader, the Hand’IT™-2G, which supports ISO 14443A/B, 15693, and Sony’s Felica™ protocol. It can also operate in Near Field Communication, or reader-to-reader mode.
The company also announced the the new PicoPass™ 32KS, a chip that contains two PicoPass™ 16KS chips integrated on the same silicon.
Singapore, April 21st 2004 – INSIDE Contactless, booth 4C05 at Cards Asia 2004, announces the launch of its plug and play advanced compact Flash module, Hand’IT™-2G. Also making its introduction at Cards Asia 2004 is the new PicoPass™ 32KS, a dual protocol contactless chip for applications requiring large memory for data storage.
INSIDE’s Vice President of Sales and General Manager for Asia Pacific, Dennis Khoo, comments: “The launch of these new products allow our customers to create more value-add applications and competitive services with our innovative contactless technology”
The Hand’IT™-2G has been designed to operate with any laptops and PDAs running with Microsoft Window® 98/XP/Me/Pocket PC 2002/2003. The new module is compatible with CF card slot types I and II enabling communication with INSIDE’s contactless chips: PicoPass™, PicoTag™ as well as other contactless chips.
In addition to those features, the Hand’IT-2G is able to communicate with any INSIDE’s couplers, as well as other RF readers. In a reader-to-reader mode, also known as the Near Field Communication (NFC), the Hand’IT-2G acts as a transponder, enabling the transfer of stored data to any other PDA or laptop through an RF interface.
The Hand’IT-2G is a versatile multi-standard contactless reader module, compliant with the ISO 14443A/B and 15963 standards including Felica™. The Hand’IT 2G provides a state of-the-art security, including secret key management and cryptographic calculations that enable secure authentication and communication with a contactless transponder.
The Hand’IT-2G has been designed to be used in a smart card and RFID environment such as Passport and visa verification, transport ticket verification, data collection, RFID tags reading/writing, counterfeiting protection and prepaid applications.
INSIDE’s PicoPass™ unique dual protocol chip has doubled its memory size from 16K bits to 32 K bits. It is now available in 2K bits, 16K bits and 32K bits, compliant with ISO 14443B as well as ISO 15693 standards (an optional compliance to ISO 14443 A), allowing therefore both long distance and proximity operations on the same chip.
This latest version of the chip contains two PicoPass™ 16KS chips integrated on the same silicon. This memory chip offers the benefits for both smart cards and RFID applications, it also enables coexistence of several independent applications (up to 16) while maintaining fully separate security conditions. The applications range from access control, mass transit, payment, ID cards and passports.
Further to these products’ launches, INSIDE is honoured to have at our Cards Asia booth, partners such as MSI Global Pte. Ltd, Tunity Technologies and Singapore Technologies Electronics. Each partner will demonstrate their expertise in their respective field – Integrated Mobile Commerce solution with EZLink by MSI Global Ltd; RFID Library System by Tunity Technologies and Interactive Kiosk for e-school and Access Control System by Singapore Technologies Electronics.
Dennis Khoo states: “Having our partners on the booth is a strong testimony to INSIDE’s close cooperation with key players in various segments of the market. INSIDE is pleased to have them and contribute to their success”.
