Integrated Technology Group (ITG), a provider of library automation technologies, has partnered with Sirsidynix, a software company also specializing in library automation systems, to implement RFID-enabled solutions for libraries in Oregon and Kentucky.
In Oregon, the Albany Public Library is updating a recently remodeled building with several solutions from ITG, including Apex XpressCheck patron self-service kiosks, Apex RFID security pedestals and a seven-bin Vista FullSort automated material handling system. All of the ITG solutions work in conjunction with an integrated library system from SirsiDynix. The Jessamine County Public Library in Kentucky is also using Sirsdynx’s integrated system, along with three of ITG’s Apex XpressCheck patron self-service kiosks and eight RFID work stations for staff.
“By implementing RFID technology, we expect a monetary return on investment within five years through loss prevention and the fact that the number of circulation personnel will remain static for those five years,” says Ron Critchfield, executive director of Jessamine County Public Library. “As an intangible ROI, the value added services to our customers will be immediately beneficial and will illustrate to customers the ever increasing quality of service provided by the Jessamine County Public Library.”
ITG is a division of Vernon Library Supplies Inc. based in Norcross, Ga.
